Podcast Series on Ambiguous loss

The Red Cross Red Crescent Movement MHPSS Hub has launched a podcast miniseries on Ambiguous loss. MHPSS Specialist, Arz Stephan has moderated the three episodes of the Heartbeat of Humanity podcast and interviewed leading experts on different topics related to Ambiguous loss.

Not knowing the fate of a loved one constitutes a very specific challenge for the mental wellbeing of the family members and the community. Ambiguous loss is defined by Pauline Boss as losing someone without having the certainty of death: they could be mentally absent but physically present or vice versa. I am personally very engaged in the topic and it has been an absolute pleasure and inspiration to interview a group of leading experts. The deeper we understand the complex challenges for people facing ambiguous loss the better we are able to support, not least youth, children and adolescents – I think this podcast series is a step in that direction.
