MHPSS Hub Staff

Sarah is the Director of the MHPSS Hub. Sarah has been part of the MHPSS Hub (formerly the IFRC PS Centre) since 2016, first as IFRC Co-chair of the IASC Reference Group on MHPSS in Emergencies and, since 2022, as Head of the MHPSS Hub Technical Unit. Prior to this, she held senior positions with UN agencies (IOM and UNHCR), international NGOs, and the UK’s National Health Service and has significant credentials in academia as well.

Sarah Harrison

Pia is leading the MHPSS Operations team within the MHPSS Hub. She oversees operational activities at all levels of the organisation. She holds the responsibility for the portfolio of donor funded projects and all support functions. Pia has +15 years of experience from the humanitarian sector, with a background in project management, donor compliance, coaching and facilitation.

Carmen is a MHPSS Specialist supporting the MHPSS Policy, Advocacy and Humanitarian Diplomacy work of the MHPSS Hub, contributing to the integration of advocacy in the projects implemented by the Hub, supporting the National Societies in their Advocacy efforts, and collaborating with internal and external actors for the prioritisation of MHPSS globally. Carmen is also responsible for the integration of Human Rights foe Mental Health approaches withing the MHPSS Hub’s programmes.

Carmen Valle-Trabadelo

Eliza is a MHPSS Specialist mainly supporting the Asia Pacific (AP) region. She leads the Asia Pacific MHPSS Training and Learning Collaborative, a tripartite establishment by the MHPSS Hub, IFRC AP Regional Office, and the Hong Kong Red Cross branch. The Collaborative also serves as the secretariat of the AP MHPSS Network, a platform for national societies in the region to learn and exchange from the peers.

Eliza Yee Lai Cheung

Ahlem is the MHPSS Specialist for the Middle East and North Africa region and she is the MHPSS in health (Community-based mental health care) and the Maternal and Newborn Child Health focal point. Ahlem has over 23 years of experience with working on the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support field in Ethiopia, Mali, Afghanistan, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, Yemen, etc. She speaks French, Arabic and Spanish.

Ahlem Cheffi

Guleed is the MHPSS Specialist for the African Region and the Psychological First Aid focal point. He has 10 years’ experience in providing MHPSS coordination in humanitarian settings in the African region and Asia Pacific as well as staff health. He is the MHPSS Hub representative of Working Group 3 in the MHPSS Roadmap project focusing on ensuring staff and volunteer wellbeing. He provides training and supervision on key approaches in the MHPSS Hub. Guleed speaks Danish, English, Somali and German.

Guleed Dualeh

Ganna is a MHPSS Specialist working on the EU4health project. In this role she is capacitating the National Societies of Ukraine’s neighboring countries in PFA and Caring for staff and volunteers. She is a focal point for the Scalable Psychological Interventions. Her background is Social Sciences with extensive experience in MHPSS in emergency and development settings in conflict and post-conflict areas.

Ganna Goloktionova

Shona is a MHPSS Specialist and the MHPSS Hub focal point for emergencies, climate change, protection, gender, and inclusion (PGI), and monitoring and evaluation. She is also the Co-chair of Working Group 1 in the MHPSS Roadmap project which is focusing on ensuring, and integrating, basic PSS across the RCRC Movement. Shona has background in disaster management and psychology and joined the MHPSS Hub following more than 10 years with Australian Red Cross.

Shona Whitton

Cátia has a clinical background in providing direct and psychosocial support to humanitarian staff, locally and in the field, as well as training, and individual and team supervision. At the MHPSS Hub, she is a MHPSS Specialist in the Integrated Model of Supervision project and the focal point for the Americas Regions. Additionally, Catia has over 15 years of experience working as a Clinical Psychologist and Regional Staff Counsellor in respectively Portugal and Sudan.

Cátia Matos

MHPSS Specialist and focal point for the EU4Health programme funded by DG Sante. Leading the portfolio on youth mental health and child-focused MHPSS, supporting RCRC National Societies and the Movement. Arz is fluent in English, Arabic, and French, and has a working knowledge of Spanish and Dutch. A decade of experience in child and youth-focused programming in conflict-affected areas has given Arz expertise in psychosocial support interventions. Arz works to promote children’s wellbeing and participation in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

Joshua is a MHPSS Specialist working on the EU4Health programme. He comes with humanitarian and MHPSS experience in Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, and Ukraine, working with conflict-affected and displaced populations. Joshua has a background in clinical social work and brings a focus on community-based MHPSS.

Joshua Lee

Yasin is a Research Specialist who co-coordinates the RCRC MHPSS Research Network. He leads efforts to shape and promote the network’s research agenda and contributes to the research components in proposals, grants, and consortium bids and establishing academic partnerships. His research and teaching experience in academic institutions in Turkey, Kurdistan, Belgium, and the UK focuses on MHPSS, forced migration and (re)integration, and the social and political psychology of peace and conflict.

Yasin Duman

In collaboration with communication colleague and management, Jesper supports the development and implementation of MHPSS Hub communication strategies and visual brand guidelines. The main focus of Jespers work is graphic design, photos and videos. Jesper also writes and edits content for publications and social media and plan, produce and edit podcasts.

In collaboration with communication colleague and management, Villads supports the development and implementation of MHPSS Hub communication strategies. The main focus of Villads work is writing and editing a variety of organisational outputs and manage social media accounts. Villads also plan, produce and edit podcasts.

The IFRC PS Centre will as January 2025 transform to the RCRC Movement MHPSS Hub. Shanna is supporting the Director of the PS Centre in this process as the Transformation Manager. In this role she works closely with a task force established with members from the IFRC, ICRC, Danish Red Cross and the Director of the PS Centre. Shanna is facilitating the process and ensures deliveries according to a well-developed timeline.

Sabina is a Project Manager on the EU4Health project. Her responsibilities include coordination with internal and external project stakeholders, financial monitoring, reporting, project monitoring and evaluation, and information management. Sabina has a background in social science and international studies and brings with her 12 years of experience in project management, donor compliance, and monitoring and evaluation for a variety of donors.

Anna is responsible for the management of the Sport Coach+ programme and theMHPSS Hub's Ukraine appeal, as well as other internal processes and new proposals development. She has a background in project management, humanitarian response, capacity building and education in emergencies.

Shah has been working in financial management for various national and international organisations (HQ & field offices) for more than 12 years. At the PS Centre, Shah is responsible for supporting project managers with the financial management of a variety of donor-funded projects. Shah is also supporting the financial management of the entire MHPSS Hub - including annual budgeting, annual financial statements, etc. Furthermore, Shah is coordinating recruitment processes and other HR-related tasks.
