Workshops to develop a Climate & MHPSS Framework - ENGLISH (Workshop 3 of 3)
Turn your experience with climate change into action for mental health and psychosocial support
Around the world, people experience the deep impacts of climate change on their lives and well-being. Extreme weather, changing environments and community disruptions affect people’s mental health and psychosocial wellbeing in profound ways.
The relationship between climate change and mental health and wellbeing is complex. This makes it difficult for communities and humanitarian organisations to find the best ways to respond to the needs.
The MHPSS Collaborative, Danish Red Cross, RCRC Movement MHPSS Hub, Save the Children Denmark and the Mental Health Youth Alliance are launching a series of workshops to create a practical guide for humanitarian organisations – built directly from the expertise of those most affected by climate change.
We want to understand how humanitarian actors can provide better support for mental health and wellbeing to communities affected by climate change.
We are launching a series of workshops to create a practical guide for humanitarian organisations – built directly from the expertise of those most affected by climate change. These workshops will be conducted in English, Spanish and French with participants from around the world.
Who are we inviting?
We are inviting community members with lived experiences, mental health and psychosocial support practitioners, climate practitioners, and researchers to share their perspectives and contribute to this vital conversation. Your insights are vital to create a framework that reflects diverse experiences and knowledge.
What will happen?
We want to move beyond understanding the problem to developing concrete, actionable strategies. To do this, we invite you to join three online workshops in English. Together, we will:
- Map the real challenges communities face
- Identify potential actions and interventions to support mental health and build resilience in communities affected by the climate crisis and visualize them within the framework.
- Create a guide that helps humanitarian organisations and communities respond more effectively
It’s important that you make time to participate in all three workshops, as each workshop will build on the previous workshop, both in your language and from the workshops in other languages.
How do I participate?
The workshops in English will take place on the following days:
- Workshop 1: 13 March 2025, 10:00 to 11:30 UTC
- Workshop 2: 31 March 2025, 10:00 to 11:30 UTC
- Workshop 3: 4 April 2025, 10:00 to 11:30 UTC
Please make sure that you are able to join for all three workshops, which will be held on Zoom.
Please note that the deadline for expressions of interest is 30 January 2025, and final selections will be made by 13 February 2025.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact the project coordinator, Elvire Rikkert, at elri@redbarnet.dk (available Tuesdays and Thursdays).
