2nd Research Carnival on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS)
Call for registration and participation criteria
This event will be held exclusively in-person and will not offer a hybrid or virtual participation option. The carnival will take place at hotel The Boma Nairobi (Red Cross Road, Nairobi, Kenya). Read more about the venue.
No financial support is available to cover participation costs.
Members of National Societies of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement are encouraged to contact their National Society and any Partner National Societies to inquire about potential funding opportunities.
No. There is no registration fee for participants or presenters.
All participants and presenters are responsible for their own travel, visa, and accommodation costs. Lunch and refreshments will be provided free of charge for all registered attendees for the duration of the three-day event.
Participants must be 18 years or older.
The event is open to undergraduate students, postgraduate students, researchers, practitioners, and professionals with an academic or professional interest in MHPSS. Note that the age requirement does not apply to Red Cross Red Crescent staff and volunteers who work within the field of MHPSS.
Participants will be selected based on the information provided in the registration form, including the relevance of their academic or professional background and their availability to participate in the full three-day Research Carnival.
Priority will be given to applicants who can attend all three days of the event.
The general registration will be open from Thursday 9 July 2026 until Thursday 13 August at 23:59 CEST.
The selected participants will be notified by Thursday 20 August.
Selected participants must provide final confirmation of their participation by Monday 31 August.
Yes.
Once your participation has been confirmed, the hosting organisation Kenya Red Cross Society can provide a support letter for visa application purposes.

Preliminary programme for the 2nd Research Carnival
The programme will run from 09:00 to 17:00 EAT on all three days of the event.
The final programme will be published on 31 August 2026.

Please note that a high level of English proficiency is required to participate in the 2nd Research Carnival, as all presentations, workshops, and discussions will be in English.
