This is the fourth episode in a podcast series framed by contributions featured in the International Review of the Red Cross published by ICRC. This episode takes off from a contribution entitled Between the lines: Naming mental suffering in armed conflict in the ICRC Library authored by Sonia Crenn, Librarian, and Charlotte Mohr, Librarian.
The contribution dives into the mental suffering present everywhere in the ICRC Library’s collections and takes the reader on a journey through 160 years of testimonies, reports and scholarship on humanitarian law and action in armed conflict. With the aim to investigate patterns and evolutions in how the subject of mental health has been treated in the literature. The contribution traces in a few broad strokes how mental health has been named, understood and addressed over time in ICRC collections.
We invited the authors Sonia Crenn and Charlotte Mohr, both Librarians, with the ICRC Library, to discuss their findings.
