The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement MHPSS Hub have jointly published Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Capacity Strengthening Framework, Community-based Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Toolkit and Review of the current evidence base for MHPSS in emergencies.
When ICRC joined IFRC and the Danish Red Cross as tripartite partners and the MHPSS Hub was born, it was because we saw a clear and evident need to strengthen MHPSS across the Movement. We also identified significant opportunities to create synergies and pool our expertise and resources with partners to address this need. The three newly released joint publications illustrate that this was a correct analysis. We look forward to continuing the work to support the Movement in delivering on its ambition to ensure strong and much needed mental health support across the globe – not least in the regions affected by combinations of conflict, displacement and climate change
Omar Salih Rasheed, MHPSS Programme Coordinator for ICRC.
Our partnership is an important precondition for a more close and efficient cooperation, and the three recent publications are a manifestation of this. This was very much a joint undertaking from identifying gaps in the current body of MHPSS work through research, drafting and design phase – we are of course enthusiastic that the result has been well received across the Movement we serve and see this as a first step in future joint work
Shona Whitton, MHPSS Hub Technical Team Lead.
