EUHPP Live Webinar: Building resilience: Mental Health and Psychosocial Support for Children and Youth in Emergencies
The session will connect practical experiences from across Europe showing how culturally inclusive, youth-driven and person-centred approaches to mental health contribute to sustainable health systems. The discussion will underline how investing in the mental health of children and young people represents an investment in Europe’s future, reducing inequities, strengthening social trust and fostering healthier communities across generations.
Drawing on experiences from the EU4Health-funded project “Provision of quality and timely psychological first aid to people affected by the Ukraine crisis in impacted countries,” led by the IFRC and implemented across 28 countries, the session will highlight practical examples of local and community-based actions tailored to the needs of children and young people. These examples include the work of trained professionals and volunteers supporting children, adolescents, their caregivers and will feature the voices of the community members themselves to illustrate how locally adapted approaches can effectively address mental health needs.
The MHPSS Hub will support the facilitation of the event featuring key-experts from DG SANTE (European Commission), Croatian Red Cross, Swedish Red Cross, IFRC Regional Office for Europe, Mental Health Europe.
