Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in emergencies workshop
The Red Cross Red Crescent Movement MHPSS Hub is hosting a 3.5 day’s workshop on MHPSS in emergencies this November. The workshop is for Red Cross Red Crescent MHPSS focal points responsible for initiating, designing or supporting MHPSS responses before, during and after emergencies.
The workshop will cover three themes:
- The impact of emergencies on mental health and psychosocial wellbeing
- Mental health and psychosocial responses in emergencies in national and international contexts
- Mental health and psychosocial support activities in emergencies.
The workshop aims to support National Societies to build their emergency response capability for MHPSS through:
- Exploring MHPSS good practices in emergencies
- Sessions with researchers and practitioners on evidence for emergency MHPSS
- Peer support, learning and exchange
- Dedicated time to focus and reflect on existing emergency MHPSS programming
- Time to design and adapt training curriculum on MHPSS responses in emergencies
- Sharing experiences and examples of Red Cross Red Crescent Movement emergency MHPSS responses
The workshop will be facilitated by MHPSS Advisors Ganna Goloktionova and Shona Whitton.
Dates, deadlines, and other important information
The workshop will take place at the MHPSS Hub in Copenhagen from 9am 11 November to 1pm 14 November 2025. The workshop will be from 09.00-17.00 hrs CET on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and will end at lunchtime on Friday.
Participants must be able to take part in the entire workshop, arriving the night before and departing from the Hub no earlier than 1 pm on Friday with the earliest possible flight out of Copenhagen around 330pm.
The workshop will be conducted in English.

Deadline for application
Expressions of interest will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis, with a deadline of Sunday 7 September 2025. The facilitators may contact you after you submit your expression of interest to discuss your potential participation in the workshop.

Cost
There is no training fee. Participants cover their own expenses for travel, accommodation, and other expenses. Lunch and snacks and one social dinner will be provided during the workshop.
