Working Group 4, presented by co-leads Monia Aebersold (Swiss Red Cross) and Michelle Engels (IFRC PS Centre) in the State of Play Workshop December 2021.
In December 2019, the International Red Cross Red Crescent Movement adopted a set of commitments addressing mental health and psychosocial needs. To support a strategic and coordinated approach to implementing these commitments, a Roadmap (2020–2023) was developed to strengthen the Movement’s collective response to mental health and psychosocial needs.
The Roadmap sets out six priority action areas guiding the Movement in the steps towards full implementation of its commitments. To operationalize the six priority action areas, five Working Groups were established to focus each on one of the priority action areas (the Working Groups on priority action areas 5 and 6 merged due to their interconnectedness). With support from the British, Danish, and Swedish Red Cross, a “State of Play Movement Workshop” was organized by the Interim Coordination body in December 2021 to take stock and discuss the progress in realising the Movement’s commitments on mental health and psychosocial support with a focus on the Roadmap implementation.
To join any of the working groups one must be work/volunteer with the IFRC, the ICRC and/or a National Society. Should you/your National Society be interested in joining, kindly reach out to the project Coordinator, Nathalie H. Rigall, IFRC PS Centre, narig@rodekors.dk.
